Elegant Labels Enhance Buffets at InterContinental® Hotels in China
InterContinental® is the world’s largest hotel group, with over 5,400 properties in 100 countries. Its buffets need to reflect the high standards expected of luxury hotels. InterContinental® Beijing was quickly impressed by the stylish and durable plastic food labels created and printed using the Edikio solution.
The buffet features around 300 hot and cold dishes, salads, desserts, fruits, and beverages. Previously, InterContinental® Beijing used laminated paper labels. Although relatively low in cost, these labels did not reflect the image of a luxury hotel brand. Prealway Beijing, an Evolis distributor specializing in retail equipment, introduced the Edikio solution to Li Huirong, Food & Beverage Manager at InterContinental® Beijing. The solution includes an Edikio printer, card design software, and blank cards.
Li Huirong was immediately captivated by the elegance, durability, and hygiene compliance, as well as the convenience of instant card printing. Since spring 2018, more than 300 black, matte, and elegant labels have been created and printed for the breakfast buffet.
Five-Star Buffet Labels
Each buffet label displays the food category, allergen information, and dish name in both Chinese and English to meet the needs of Chinese and international guests. Ms. Li Huirong explains: “Edikio perfectly meets our aesthetic standards and hygiene requirements. The unified, elegant card design enhances the appeal of our buffet and reflects the image of a five-star hotel. The cards are water- and moisture-resistant, and we are extremely satisfied with the clarity of the displayed information.”
Allergen information is represented with pictograms included in the software, allowing guests to quickly identify if a dish contains an ingredient to which they are allergic. InterContinental® Beijing also plans to use Edikio to produce labels for lunch and dinner buffets, with about 30 new buffet labels added each month.
